It's possible that it was initially used as a placeholder in the Dig Dug II part of the intro sequence before Pac-Man took its place. The intro graphics contain sprites for a Pooka being inflated, and eventually becoming twice its original size. Also, when they go through the ground, replaced the original sprites by mysterious feminine eyes. The spiders shoot spiderwebs instead of fire. Replaced the Pookas by woman faced snakes, and the Fygars by woman spiders. It is unknown what the three were supposed to be used for. I changed the graphics in a Dig Dug famicom rom.
